Kids love sugar as it satisfies their cravings and it tastes great. This is all great except that bacteria loves sugar as well.
Although it is nearly impossible, try to limit your sugar intake as much as you can because bacteria loves eating sugar. Too much sugar consumption can not only lead to health problems like diabetes, but other oral health problems like tooth decay. The more your child stays away from sugar, the better. For babies, try to avoid baby food that has added sugars as well. If you do not make your own food at home and buy it from the store, then try to limit any excessive sugar.
Salads is an amazing food that can be made in a million ways and still provide your child with a good amount of greens in their diet; however, providing them with salad dressings ruins the healthy aspect of them as they have an overabundance of sugar inside of them. Try buying dressing with low fat and sugar amounts in them or serve a smaller salad if you need to.
One of the many reasons we love soda, especially children, is because of the high sugar amount. Diet versions of soda are not a better choice in the end as they contain many chemicals that mimic sugar. The best choice at the end of the day is drinking water.
Like soda, everyone loves ice cream and we tend to think that fat-free versions are a healthier choice however, they are not. Be wary of labels that claim they are healthy because of the sole fact that it is fat-free.
Having proper knowledge of how to fight against bacteria and sugar is great to keeping your child’s smile nice and healthy!
